Any advice for caregiving for a parent while located in another city? Do you use any technology to help (like video calls, or words with friends, facebook, or others?
A variety of technology tools can help with remotely communicating and managing care of (a) parent(s) remotely whether in another city or just a few miles away. Best to start with understanding the type(s) of information, monitoring and coordination that's needed, who this needs to be shared between and what type of smart phone or other devices each person to be involved uses. Then look at the types of applications and functions that would address situation needs.
There are apps for calendars, care plan and medication management, video camera devices that can be controlled and monitored by the Caregiver, sensors of different sorts for all kinds of remote monitoring and voice first apps such as Amazon Echo Alexa that offer drop in calling plus all kinds of skills a care receiver can implement. Of equal importance is building/maintaining relationships with those who are part of your parents' care team and who will be interacting with your parent day to day - be they friends, doctors, formal caregivers or anyone else involved.
It'd be great to hear from caregivers who have used specific technologies/tools to learn of their experiences and any associated recommendations.
